La Esperanza Granada

La Esperanza Granada seeks to provide resources and opportunities for educational advancement and community development of four pueblos near Granada, Nicaragua. La Esperanza is a young organization that began in January of 2002 with a generous donation from a Dutch family to be used for the education of the poor children of Nicaragua. As a result 52 street children from La Prussia were sponsored to attend school. However, teachers were overwhelmed with so many new students that in June of 2002 international volunteers began to assist the school with enrichment programs, tutoring and assistant teaching. Since then the project has grown to meet other needs of the Pueblos such as providing pumps for running water, a water tank for schools, supplementing teachers' salaries, hiring a nurse and providing small business loans.
