Title: Mexican Muralists

Overview:  Many famous artists emerged in Mexico through the medium of mural paintings.  In this exercise, students compare the works of three Mexican Muralists; Diego Rivera, Jose Orozco, and David Siqueiros.

Purpose:  To think about how the subjects, symbols, and style of painting can influence the impact of an artist's work.  

Objectives:  

• Students will gain a deeper understanding of the works of three Mexican muralists.
• Students will practice analyzing symbols and styles used in paintings.  
• Students will connect meanings and reasons for artistic expression with artwork in their own communities and lives.
